baseballJune 1, 2024: The Mt. Abram Roadrunners captured the 2024 Mountain Valley Conference Championship at Oak Hill High School, defeating Oak Hill 12-0. The Roadrunners jumped on Raider starter Landon Bangs for two runs in the first inning. Payton Mitchell opened the game by reaching first base on an error and Kaiden Longley followed up with a single. Both runners scored on a double by junior Bryce Wilcox. 

In the second inning, designated hitter Mike Wilkins singled with one out. Payton Mitchell followed with a single. Longley then singled to load the bases. Logan Dube 2024 Mt AbramAfter a force out at home for the second out, Dube was hit by a pitch to bring in the 3rd run.

Both teams were scoreless in the 3rd inning, but Mt. Abram erupted for four runs in the 4th. The big blow of the inning was a two-out two-run double by freshman Brennan Mitchell. 

The Roadrunners scored two runs in the 5th inning. After Longley singled for his third hit of the game, Wilcox douibled. Both runners scored on a double by Dube. 

Mt. Abram tacked on three more runs in the 7th inning. Wilcox led off with a walk followed by singletons by Dube and Pillsbury. Wilcox, however, was called out for interference by the runner. Rollins then tripled to score Dube and Pillsbury. A sacrifice fly by Brennan Mitchell closed out the scoring for Mt. Abram. Mitchell led Mt. Abram with 4 Runs Batted In.

The Raiders' bats were held in check for most of the game, with senior Cooper Spencer getting Oak Hill's lone hit, a single in the second inning.

In the state tournament competition, Oak Hill, who is ranked #5 in Southern Maine Class B, will play #12 Fryeburg Academy on June 4th. Mt. Abram, #3 in Southern Maine Class C, will host #6 Traip Academy on June 5th.
