Hall-Dale Boys Win 2025 MVC Soccer Championship

Defeat Monmouth Academy 2-1
The Hall-Dale Bulldogs defeated the Monmouth Academy Mustangs to capture the 2025 Mountain Valley Conference Boys Soccer Championship on October 23rd at Winthrop High School's newly renovated Maxwell athletic complex.
Hall-Dale junior Collin McArthur opened the scoring in the first half to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. Senor Mid Fielder Rory Foyt scored for the Mustangs at the 12:45 mark of the second half to knot the score at 1-1. Then, freshmen Owen Free hit the back of the net with 6:36 left in the match to send Hall-Dale to their first championship since 2017.
Hall-Dale went 11-1-2 in the regular season and is ranked #1 in Southern Maine Class C. Monmouth ended the regular season at 12-1-1 and is ranked #1 in Southern Maine Class D. In their only meeting during the regular season. The two teams played to a 1-1 tie on September 5th.

The Maranacook High School Black Bears defeated the Mt. Abram Roadrunners 1-0 to capture the 2025 MVC Girls Soccer Championship 1-0. The match was scoreless through the first half. Then, Senior Midfielder Celia Berghahl scored with just 41 seconds gone in the second half and junior goalkeeper Stella Stewart was perfect in goal, recording the shutout to give the team from Readfield their third straight league championship.
Maranacook finished the regular season with a record of 12-1-1 and is ranked #1 in Southern Maine Class C. Mt. Abram finished at 11-2-1 and holds the #3 spot. The teams split their two previous meetings.
Boothbay Girls Win 4th Straight MVC Championship
Madison's Hagopian has fastest time

Boothbay-Wiscasset captured their 4th straight Mountain Valley Conference Championship at the University of Maine at Augusta on October 18th. Boothbay used a deep attack to take the top honors with 61 points in a very balanced race. In a close second place was Maranacook High School with 64 points. Madison HS came in third with 72 points with the Winthrop Ramblers grabbing 4th place with 93 points.
First to break the tape was Madison senior Bryanna Hagopian with a time of 20.09.6. Second place went to her teammate Leah Harper, who crossed the line in 21:32.6. Taking the final podium position was Dirigo High School's Mckenzie Boyle with a time of 22:06.2. Rounding out the top 7 were Oak Hill's Abigail Gervais (22:52.1), Mt. Abram's Addie Paul (22:57.9, Harper Olmstead of Maranacook (22:59.3), and Boothbay's Maddie Andreasen (24:02.7).
Also scoring for Boothbay were freshman Audrey Robinson, who came in 12th place (25:10.8), junior Lexi Hughes in 16th place (26:03.8), and freshman Maggie Mccarthy in 18th place (26:27.8).
Hagopian was named Runner of the Year and Madison coach Lee Harper was named the 2025 Coach of the Year.

Winthrop Boys Win 2025 XC Championship

Dirigo's William Morris Repeats as Runner of the Year
The Winthrop boys captured the 2025 MVC Cross Country Championship at the University of Maine Augusta on October 18th. The Ramblers, who scored 36 points, were led by Alfie Cognata, who completed the course with the second best time of 17:49. Other top finishers for the champions were Keenan Libby (18.07), Sam St. Germain 18:37), and Gianni Haefele (19:22).
Second place went to Lisbon with 65 points. Maranacook was third with 79 points while defending champion Boothbay/Wiscasset took 4th with 91 points.
William Morris of Dirigo repeated as the MVC Runner of the Year by breaking the tape in 16:39 to capture the individual title.

Monmouth Hall-Dale Take 2025 MVC Golf Championship
Winthrop's Drew Mertzel has best round of 69
The team of Monmouth Academy and Hall-Dale High School captured the 2025 Mountain Valley Conference Championship at Natanis Golf Club on October 2nd. The Bears placed 4 players in the top 10 with Kyle Bryant (85), Patrick Murphy (88), Tristan Comeau (89), and Addison Beaudoin (90) leading the team to victory. Their score of 352 was enough to best two-time defending champ Maranacook, who came in second with 361 points. Winthrop, led by Drew Mertzel, took third place with 363 points while Madison was fourth with 421 points.
Mertzel was the top individual golfer, finishing the course with an outstanding round of 69.
